From the Office of the Presbyters’ Council
Holy Metropolis of America of the Church of the G.O.C.
Protocol no. 2009-1
ANNOUNCEMENT
To the Reverend Clergy and Faithful of the Church
Reverend Fathers and Beloved Children in the Lord,
Christ is in our midst!
His Eminence Metropolitan Demetrius has directed the Presbyters’ Council to inform the reverend pastors
and the faithful of upcoming significant events taking place in our Holy Synod.
During Holy Week, the Holy Synod of Greece will begin its preparations for the making of Holy Chrism,
ending with its consecration on Holy Thursday, after the celebration of the Divine Liturgy. His Eminence,
being asked by the Holy Synod of Greece, will be present for the consecration on Holy Thursday.
Also, having approved the petition of Metropolitan Demetrius to elect another bishop for our Church in
America, the Holy Synod will meet to hold the episcopal election on Tuesday of Bright Week. With the
grace of the Holy Spirit, the consecration of the newly elected bishop will take place on Bright Saturday in
Greece.
His Eminence asks for your prayers, that he may have a peaceful Holy Week and Pascha, and that he may
have a safe trip to Greece.
May Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ grant us all a blessed remainder of Great Lent, a solemn Holy Week
and joyous Pascha.
